An authentic medieval town in the heart of preserved nature - Not to be missed, in Correze !
The Tours de Merle, medieval castrum, have been built between the 12th and the 15th century. The site was an important place of coseigneury in the Xaintrie region. The towers are composed of several dwellings that hosted different families of local lords. Under their protection and at their service, the villagers inhabited at the feet of the Towers. A rich and fascinating history, to discover in an charming landscape, thanks to our visits!
Our visits' objectives :
- present the Tours de Merle's history in its context,
- discover medieval architecture,
- comprehend the way of living in the Middle Ages, for lords and villagers,
- discover the landscape and the natural aspects of the site.
> Guided tour : discover the history, architecture, landscapes and medieval life at the Tours de Merle. Duration: about 1:30.
Number : Ideally, the guided tour group is limited at 25 people. Possible adjustement and separation in two groups without majoration, subject to the guides' availability.
> Express tour : discover the Tours de Merle from the outside, with this visit from the viewpoint, set up below the car park of the site. Duration: about 30 minutes.
>> Do not hesitate to contact us for any demand or particular project.
> Picnic tables (car park viewpoint along the road, welcoming village...) and possibility to eat by the water
Please warn us if you eat on the site. Possibility to eat inside in case of bad weather.
