The visitors' reception village - Les Tours de Merle

The visitors' reception village

A small path along the RD 13 road leads visitors from the carpark down towards the "visitors' reception" ("village d'accueil") where you can start your visit...

Here, admire the breathtaking view of the castrum of Merle, the old houses’ architecture and a model of Merle during the Middle Ages…

"La maison Madège"

This exhibition offers visitors a historical approach to the site. A model of the castrum of Merle shows how it was set up and laid out.

Learn about the history of Merle and discover archaeological objects, found during excavations.

"La maison Esturgie"

This house is typical of the Xaintrie area and the last house in Merle to have been lived in! Today, visitors come here to la Maison Lesturgie, which was once a bar, to spend an enjoyable moment and to relax. Have a seat by the old chimney and try to imagine the lives of the people who lived here long ago…

Brochures and flyers are available to help you plan your visit.
