The visitors' reception village
A small path along the RD 13 road leads visitors from the carpark down towards the "visitors' reception" ("village d'accueil") where you can start your visit...
Here, admire the breathtaking view of the castrum of Merle and the old houses’ architecture.
"La maison Madège"
This "model house" is currently closed for security reasons.
The Tours de Merle team apologizes for this inconvenience and thank you for your comprehension.
"La maison Esturgie"
This house is typical of the Xaintrie area and the last inhabited house in Merle! Today, visitors come to this house, which was once a bar, to spend an enjoyable moment and to relax. Have a seat by the old chimney and try to imagine the life of the people who lived here long ago…

The gift shop
Merle’s gift shop is located in an old barn. Nature and medieval souvenirs, typical local products, Merle history books… are some of the items you can purchase in the gift shop. Ice cream, drinks and cakes are also available. You can enjoy a snack and admire the view from the gift shop, but meals are not served here. However, there are picnic areas on the site.
